Patrick Russell, a former teacher and football coach at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, was taken into custody on federal charges related to child pornography. The arrest marks the latest development in a case that has drawn the attention of federal prosecutors and law‑enforcement agencies across state lines.
According to court filings, the investigation began in Ohio, where agents say Russell used an encrypted messaging app called Zangi under the username “Jack C” to share and discuss illicit material. Investigators later linked more than 3,000 files to his account, painting a picture of systematic distribution and conversation about sexual abuse of children.
Authorities allege that Russell not only received and disseminated the material but also made lewd comments about students at the private school he served. He is further accused of attempting to "bait" minors into sending nude photographs, a tactic that investigators say was discussed in detail within the encrypted chat.
The school responded swiftly, removing Russell’s name from its website and issuing a statement that he is barred from campus while the investigation continues. Officials emphasized that they are cooperating fully with federal authorities and that student safety remains their top priority.
