Four former Clarkston Bantams basketball players — Kellie Kromrei, Jamie Scott, Daisy Shustoff and Danielle Walter — are preparing to step onto the same hardwood again, this time at Spokane’s annual Hoopfest tournament. Their connection dates back to elementary school, when a shared love of the game first forged a bond that has persisted through high school, college and beyond.
A Reunion Years in the Making
The quartet will reunite on the court not merely as competitors but as a living testament to a childhood promise to stay together on the court. Having honed their skills side by side for years, they now aim to extend a winning streak that began in fourth grade and to showcase the chemistry that has defined their partnership.
At the heart of their reunion is a celebration of their former coach, Steve Klees, whose mentorship helped shape their careers and opened doors to Division I scholarships for more than 300 athletes. Klees’ influence extends far beyond the gym, having become a cornerstone of the Clarkston basketball community.
Each player has carved out a distinct path in the sport and beyond. Jamie Scott, who once wore the colors of Oregon State University and later represented Canada on the national team, also earned a spot on the Washington Mystics roster in 2016. Kellie Kromrei now serves as the head coach of the Clarkston girls program, while Danielle Walter was named coach of the year after guiding her team through the 2025‑26 season. Daisy Shustoff, a former standout at Central Washington University, continues to contribute to the game as a player and mentor.
The group expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect on the court, emphasizing that the tournament offers a rare chance to celebrate their shared history while pursuing new ambitions.
