A Strategic Addition to the Coaching Staff
Tony Pujol, head coach of the University of North Alabama men's basketball team, revealed that Perin Foote will join the program as an assistant coach. The announcement underscores a commitment to elevating the program's competitiveness and leveraging seasoned expertise.
Foote arrives after a distinguished tenure at Florida State University, where he served as Director of Operations under head coach Luke Loucks. During his four‑year stint, the Seminoles posted an 18‑15 record, captured a 10‑8 conference mark, and secured four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths, highlighted by a first‑round victory over Cal before falling to Duke.
Prior to his role at Florida State, Foote contributed to a historic turnaround at Virginia Military Institute, guiding the team to its most successful single‑season performance in program history. His work there included a notable 11‑game improvement in the 2024‑25 campaign, earning recognition for revitalizing the program.
A Proven Developer of Talent
Beyond administrative duties, Foote has been credited with shaping the development of nine NBA draft prospects, among them Malik Beasley and Scottie Barnes. His scouting acumen and player‑development philosophy have attracted attention from across the basketball community, including NBA executives and national team programs.
Foote's professional journey also includes stints as a graduate assistant at Cleveland State University, where the Vikings captured Horizon League titles, and a role as Director of Player Development at the University of Missouri. He holds a bachelor's degree in sport management from Florida State (2020) and a master's degree completed in 2022.
Expressing enthusiasm about the new opportunity, Foote stated his eagerness to contribute to UNA's success and to work closely with student‑athletes. He emphasized the importance of building relationships and fostering growth within the program.
Tony Pujol praised Foote's broad understanding of college basketball and his ability to connect with players, noting that his experience will be instrumental as the team aims for greater achievements in upcoming seasons.
