Sam O’Reilly and Jack Pridham, once teammates on the Kitchener Rangers, are now both prospects for the Tampa Bay Lightning, each having arrived via separate trades within the past twelve months.
A Shared Journey to the NHL
The Lightning secured O’Reilly in a summer deal with the Edmonton Oilers and claimed Pridham off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks on June 1, bringing the two young forwards into the organization almost simultaneously.
Both players are currently attending the Lightning Development Camp, where they are training alongside prospects hoping to earn an NHL contract.
Their junior careers were marked by a common triumph: the Rangers captured an OHL title and went on to win the 2026 Memorial Cup Final together.
Pridham led all Memorial Cup scorers with five goals and nine points, having posted 46 goals and 90 points in 65 regular‑season games for Kitchener, while O’Reilly contributed 17 goals and 43 points in 28 regular‑season contests and added three goals and eight points in the championship games.
Beyond the rink, the duo has been exploring Tampa together, spending time outside of camp to bond in a city that could soon become their professional home.
Looking ahead, O’Reilly is set to begin studies at the University of Denver this fall, whereas Pridham hopes to translate his offensive production into a spot on the Lightning’s roster and, ultimately, an NHL debut.
Their shared ambition is clear: to turn a junior‑level partnership into a professional one, with the long‑term goal of seeing both players suiting up for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the near future.
