Former University of Kansas guard Lagerald Vick finds himself at the center of a serious criminal case after being charged with attempted murder in Memphis.
Prosecutors allege that on July 5, Vick discharged a firearm at a man during a confrontation, striking the victim in the back, and now face a $1.5 million bond.

The incident has reignited scrutiny of Vick’s legal history, which includes recent accusations of burglary, theft and vandalism, as well as an earlier investigation into an alleged assault on a female student while at Kansas.
According to court filings, Vick also faces separate counts of using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning for the initial hearing.
Born and raised in Memphis, Vick left the Tigers program in 2015 after a standout college career, later going undrafted and pursuing professional basketball abroad.

A separate case from April accuses him of breaking into his ex‑girlfriend’s home, leading to charges of aggravated burglary, theft of property and misdemeanor vandalism, with a court date set for July 30.
While the legal troubles mount, Vick’s basketball trajectory has taken him from Kansas to overseas leagues, where he has continued to play since being passed over in the 2019 NBA draft.
