Mexican soccer legend Ramón Ramírez is set to make a special appearance at the La Cancha Watch Party in McAllen on June 24, turning the city’s Oval Park into a vibrant hub for fans gathering to watch Mexico’s World Cup clash with Czechia.
Gates will open at 6:00 p.m., and Ramírez will join supporters for a meet‑and‑greet at 7:00 p.m., giving attendees a chance to snap photos and hear stories from the midfield maestro who graced two World Cups.
"The community spirit that brings people together through soccer, culture, food, music and celebration is exactly what we aim to showcase," City Manager Isaac J. Tawil said, emphasizing the significance of Ramírez’s presence for local fans.
A Legendary Guest
Ramírez, celebrated for his role in Mexico’s 1993, 1996 and 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup triumphs and the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup, earned roughly 120 caps and featured in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, leaving a lasting imprint on the nation’s midfield.
The evening will also feature food trucks, local vendors and an artisan market, offering family‑friendly activities that turn a simple viewing into a full‑scale community festival.
Admission and parking are free, and the event is organized by the City of McAllen with the support of numerous sponsors, underscoring a collaborative effort to celebrate soccer culture beyond the stadium walls.
