A New Chapter for Gallatin Football
Gallatin’s football program announced a series of appointments that signal a renewed focus on holistic player development. Former NFL offensive lineman Michael Moore will serve as the team’s player development director, overseeing initiatives that blend athletic performance with personal growth.
Moore, a fourth‑round selection in the 2000 NFL Draft out of Troy, spent his professional career with the Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers before stints in NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy. His extensive experience on the line and in special teams provides a unique perspective for the Gallatin roster.
In his new role, Moore will emphasize leadership, character, accountability, academic success, mental wellness and life‑skill development. He will work directly with student‑athletes to cultivate traits that extend beyond the field, aiming to produce well‑rounded citizens.
Beyond his playing days, Moore currently serves as the family school liaison at Rucker‑Stewart Middle School and has been embedded in Sumner County Schools since 2017. Previously, he worked as a dropout‑prevention coordinator in Pennsylvania, experience that informs his commitment to academic achievement and student support.
New Coaching Additions
Alongside Moore, Gallatin welcomed Omar Philmore as the new cornerbacks coach and Blake Holder as a special teams assistant. Both bring fresh perspectives to the staff, reinforcing the program’s ambition to compete at a higher level within the region.
Philmore’s appointment adds depth to the defensive backfield, while Holder’s expertise in special teams is expected to sharpen the unit’s consistency. Their integration with Moore’s development framework creates a cohesive support structure for the team.
The moves come as Gallatin seeks to strengthen its ties with the local community and educational institutions. By leveraging partnerships with schools and leveraging the expertise of former professionals, the program hopes to foster a culture of excellence that resonates on and off the field.
