Camp Overview
On August 1, Buccaneer Stadium in Corpus Christi, Texas, will host a free football camp that brings together young athletes from across the region. The event is organized by the BamFam Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to developing athletes through intensive skill work and character education.
Former NFL wide receiver David Porter, who previously played for the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos, will headline the camp as the featured NFL alumnus. Porter, now a mentor with the BamFam Foundation, will lead drills and share insights from his professional career.
The camp is open to students in grades three through twelve, with priority registration extended to Corpus Christi Independent School District athletes. Organizers have set a cap of 200 participants, ensuring each child receives ample attention and resources.
Community Impact
Corpus Christi ISD Athletic Director Kevin Hendrickson emphasized that the camp offers a rare opportunity for under‑privileged youth to experience high‑level training that might otherwise be financially out of reach. "This camp opens doors for kids who might not otherwise afford such exposure," Hendrickson said.
Each participating school has been asked to nominate ten athletes, and every participant will receive a camp t‑shirt as a keepsake of the experience. The registration process is straightforward, with online sign‑up available at the provided form site.
