Coach Marcus Freeman confirmed that Notre Dame’s graduate admissions cycle had already been completed, making a reunion with Tuihalamaka impossible despite the team’s need for depth at his position. The Irish had already begun fall semester classes on August 24, sealing the window for any fifth‑year participation.
At LSU, Tuihalamaka will find a crowded room at his position, where preseason All‑America Boubacar Traore anchors the unit, and freshmen Rodney Dunham and Ebenezer Ewetade are expected to contribute significantly. Dunham’s anticipated participation under the “5 for 5” model further reduces the reliance on redshirt seasons for the program.
