Former Oklahoma Assistant Coach Todd Butler Joins Florida Gators Baseball Staff

Butler brings decades of experience and a championship pedigree to Gainesville as the Gators aim for a national title

A New Era for Florida Gators Baseball

Todd Butler, a seasoned collegiate baseball mind, has officially joined the Florida Gators baseball program as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of experience to Gainesville.

Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan highlighted Butler's three‑decade career and two decades spent at the SEC level, emphasizing his proven track record in recruiting and player development.

A Proven Track Record

Butler's journey spans stints at Oklahoma, Wichita State, McNeese, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama and Blinn College, where his teams captured a College World Series title and consistently ranked among the nation's elite.

During his tenure, Butler oversaw 10 top‑10 recruiting classes, guided six CWS appearances, and helped produce 39 All‑American selections, 179 MLB Draft picks and 46 players who reached the major leagues.

Recruiting Reinforcements

In his new role, Butler will spearhead recruiting efforts for the Gators, stepping into the position vacated by Taylor Black, and has already helped secure commitments from outfielder Drew Dickerson and Braylen Montgomery.

Butler expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating his desire to contribute to the Gators' pursuit of a national championship and to work alongside associate head coach Tom Slater and veteran assistant Rich Dorman.

The staff reshuffle follows the recent departure of David Kopp, who was dismissed after the Gators' early exit in the Gainesville Regional against Troy.
