Former Ole Miss and Jackson State Player D.D. Bowie Killed in Rankin County Shooting

Investigators charge multiple suspects as community mourns loss of promising athlete

A tragic weekend on Adams Road

Deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 100 block of Adams Road early Saturday morning after reports of a disturbance that quickly escalated into gunfire.

When officers arrived they found Idarrious “D.D.” Iantron Bowie suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Bowie, a standout athlete from Morton High School and a top prospect in the class of 2016, had enjoyed a brief but notable college career, first at Ole Miss before transferring to Jackson State where he played as a wide receiver in 2019.

Arrests and charges

Investigators quickly identified four suspects. Ladarious Harrison and Dominic Sanabria were taken into custody and charged with murder, while Semiko Crump and Kaylee Trimble faced accessory after the fact charges. A fifth individual, Michael Jerome Mitchell, was later arrested and also charged with accessory after the fact.

Sheriff Bryan Bailey praised the rapid response of his deputies and the collaborative effort of investigators, emphasizing that the incident appears to be isolated and that the community can expect a thorough prosecution of those responsible.

The loss of Bowie has resonated deeply among former teammates, coaches and fans who remember his 35 receptions for 512 yards and five touchdowns with the Jackson State Tigers, as well as his earlier contributions on defense at Ole Miss.

A community in mourning

Friends and former colleagues have taken to social media to share memories of Bowie’s competitiveness, his smile and his dedication to the sport. Local leaders have called for an end to youth violence, hoping that Bowie’s story will inspire safer neighborhoods for the next generation of athletes.
