The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has become a proving ground for emerging talent, and this year two former Penn State standouts are among the hopefuls vying for a spot on an NBA roster.
Ace Baldwin Jr., celebrated for his tenacious defense and playmaking, is suiting up for the Orlando Magic. The Magic have slated him for matchups against the Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers, giving the point guard a chance to showcase his 1,716 college points, 831 assists and 342 steals.
Seth Lundy, who overcame a mid‑season injury to return to competition, now wears the Toronto Raptors jersey. Drafted 46th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 2023, he is looking to re‑establish his rhythm after stints with the Hawks and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Both players will face a tough slate of opponents. Baldwin’s Magic will test themselves against the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat, while Lundy’s Raptors are set to meet the same Celtics, Rockets, Pacers and Heat, among others, in a battle of youthful resolve.
A New Chapter for the Nittany Lions
Coach Mike Rhoades, who took the helm of the program, has emphasized player development and defensive identity, hoping to translate the college successes of Baldwin and Lundy into future professional opportunities.
The excitement extends beyond the court, as fans and analysts alike watch how the summer league performances might influence draft projections and future roster decisions for the NBA teams.
