A group of four former Savannah high school standouts has turned their shared love of the game into a community‑focused football camp this summer. The event, scheduled for July 18 at Memorial Stadium, will charge participants $20 for a T‑shirt or $15 without, and every dollar raised will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire.
Camp Aims and Community Roots
The camp will feature fundamentals training and advice on advancing in football, led by Za'Quan Bryan, a USF cornerback who helped Benedictine Military Academy capture a Class 4A state title in 2022. Bryan is entering his fourth year of running the camp, bringing his experience from Benedictine to the University of South Florida. Joining him will be teammate Luke Kromenhoek, a former Florida State and Mississippi State player who is now competing for the starting quarterback role at USF, as well as Kenny Odom, who starred at Austin Peay and UTEP, and Terry Simmons, a defensive lineman who transferred from Duke after his time at Calvary Day School.
Beyond sharpening skills, the camp serves as a fundraiser for a cause that resonates deeply with the participants. Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire provides temporary housing and support services to families of seriously ill children, and the organizers hope the initiative will reinforce the spirit of giving back to the hometown that shaped them.
