A Coach's Summer Mentorship
Former Seattle Seahawks coach Chris Partridge traveled to South Florida this summer to run a series of drills at Cardinal Newman High School, bringing a taste of NFL‑level preparation to a small but ambitious program.
The visit was personal as well as professional; Partridge is the cousin of Ryan Partridge, the school's athletic director, and the two share a family connection that added a layer of mentorship to the sessions.
Drawing on a coaching résumé that includes stints at Paramus Catholic High School, the University of Michigan, the University of Mississippi and a Super Bowl‑winning staff with the Seahawks, Partridge stressed the fundamentals of blocking, tackling and ball security, drills he routinely uses with NFL players.
Players on the Cardinal Newman roster, still buzzing from a breakthrough season that produced the school's first state championship, welcomed the instruction with enthusiasm, noting that the coach's hands‑on approach made complex techniques feel accessible.
The summer camp underscores a growing trend of NFL assistants stepping into high school programs to give rising talent a glimpse of the next level, a move that could reshape local development pathways.
