A former youth soccer coach from Ohio has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of sexual battery involving a minor, ending a case that shocked the local community and raised questions about the safety of youth sports programs.
Guilty Plea and Charges
Timothy Boggs, 51, entered a guilty plea on nine counts after investigators determined that the assaults occurred between October 2024 and April 2025, when the victim was 16 years old. The conduct was not linked to his official duties at Northwestern Local Schools, where he had served as the girls’ soccer coach until his resignation on February 25, 2025.
The investigation began after a complaint was filed with police on March 2, 2025, uncovering a pattern of abuse that took place outside the school environment. Prosecutors described the case as a clear violation of trust, given Boggs' role as a mentor to teenage athletes.
Immigration Detainer and Custody
An ICE detainer was placed on Boggs, signaling that federal immigration officials sought to keep him in custody for potential removal proceedings. The detainer adds a layer of complexity to the legal process, as immigration considerations can affect sentencing and incarceration decisions.
