Two standout players from Plymouth North's 2024 state championship baseball team have taken the next step in their careers, each committing to Division I programs.
A Double Transfer
George Slauson, a first baseman who earned NE‑10 Conference Player of the Year honors in his sophomore season, will join the University of Connecticut after a standout year at St. Anselm, where he hit .333 and launched ten home runs.
DC Brown, a right‑handed pitcher who spent a year at Rice University before transferring to Brown University, says the move feels like a homecoming; he grew up watching the Bears play in Providence and now hopes to contribute to the roster.
Both athletes have been active this summer in collegiate summer leagues, with Slauson suiting up for the New Britain Bees of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League and Brown pitching for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he has posted a 3.86 ERA in limited innings.
Coaching Connections
Brown's new coach, Frank Holbrook, reached out to him shortly after the transfer was announced, a gesture that underscored the program's interest.
While still awaiting a larger role on the mound, Brown says his focus is on learning, maturing mentally and physically, and earning a spot in the pitching rotation.
The transfers also highlight the broader impact of Plymouth North's championship program, which continues to feed talent into high‑profile collegiate conferences.
