A New Chapter for Virginia Tech Baseball
The Virginia Tech baseball program announced this week that Josh Reynolds will lead its new department of pitching performance and baseball analytics, a move that underscores the school’s commitment to blending traditional coaching with cutting‑edge data.
Reynolds arrives after a stint that saw him rise from assistant coach to the role of director of pitching performance under former head coach Tony Vitello, where he helped shape the Volunteers’ pitching staff into a national contender.
His career also includes an early period as an assistant under head coach Josh Elander, a foundation that gave him a deep understanding of player development at the collegiate level.
John Szefc, the Hokies’ head coach, praised the hire, saying Reynolds’ analytical mindset will complement the team’s aggressive style and accelerate the program’s growth in Blacksburg.
Reynolds and his family have already settled into the community, a personal note that Szefc highlighted as a sign of long‑term stability for the program.
