Kristina Vazquez, who once served as both president and treasurer of the Elk Grove Jr. Thundering Herd, was taken into custody on May 14 after a six‑year investigation uncovered the misappropriation of more than $100,000 in league funds.
Alleged Misuse of Funds
According to investigators, Vazquez diverted the money to cover personal costs, including mortgage payments, car financing, air travel, hotel stays and tickets to Disneyland, using the league’s treasury as a personal bank account.
The inquiry, which involved over 20 search warrants and numerous record requests, revealed a pattern of financial impropriety that spanned the duration of her tenure on the organization’s board.
Charges and Court Appearance
Vazquez now faces felony accusations of embezzlement and grand theft. She has been booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail and is scheduled to appear before a judge on June 24, where the legal process will determine the next steps in the case.
Authorities have not disclosed how the thefts were initially discovered, nor have they indicated whether any of the missing funds have been recovered.
