Four 49ers Earn All-Conference Honors Ahead of Championship Run

Dylan Koontz leads a quartet of selections, with the squad set to face Memphis in the opening game of the conference tournament.

Charlotte Baseball celebrated a milestone this week as four of its players earned spots on the American Conference All-Conference teams, a reflection of the program’s sustained excellence over nearly five decades.

Dylan Koontz stood out as the lone First Team selection, while Cody Gunderson, Todd Hudson and Alec DeMartino were recognized on the Second Team, with Gunderson being the only returning All-Conference player from the previous season.

Koontz’s on-base percentage places him tenth in the conference at .447, and he has compiled 14 games with multiple RBIs, including eight contests with three or more RBIs, underscoring his clutch contributions.

Gunderson is batting .336 and leads the team with 73 hits, while DeMartino boasts a team-leading .337 average and sits tied for fifth in the league with 52 RBIs. Hudson, meanwhile, is hitting .332 and shares the team lead with 21 multi-hit games.

The recognition places Charlotte among the conference’s elite, tying the program with East Carolina for the second-most honorees behind only UTSA’s six selections.

Championship Outlook

Wednesday’s matchup against Memphis marks the start of a high-stakes series that could define the season for the 49ers, who are looking to translate individual accolades into team success.
