Four Western Carolina University baseball players have been selected to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, a recognition that blends athletic achievement with scholarly distinction.

Trent Turner, a senior who has already earned the honor three times, closed the season with a .291 batting average and 12 home runs, while also maintaining a 3.828 cumulative GPA and a 3.571 mark in his Master of Business Administration coursework. Turner joined Zach Ketterman as a three-time recipient for the Catamounts, highlighting a sustained pattern of excellence.

Walker Fox capped his rookie season with a .262 average and 48 hits, posting a 3.839 GPA as an integrated health sciences major.

Jaylen Jones finished the year with a .296 average and 53 hits, carrying a 3.644 GPA and earning a spot on the 2024-25 SoCon Academic Honor Roll.

Wyatt Stanley contributed a .275 average and 11 home runs, while sustaining a 3.524 GPA and being named to the Spring 2025 Academic All-SoCon team.

A Tradition of Academic Excellence

The selections reflect a broader culture at Western Carolina that prizes high academic standards alongside competitive athletics. The university’s partnership with the Southern Conference and its member schools, including Wofford College, The Citadel, and UNC Greensboro, creates an environment where student-athletes can thrive.

Previous honorees such as Zach Ketterman have set a precedent, and the continued presence of Catamounts on the All-District list signals a growing pipeline of talent that meets the rigorous demands of both sport and scholarship.
