The Oregon Ducks baseball program celebrated a rare sweep of national recognitions this week as four of its standout players were selected to the All‑American teams announced by Perfect Game, Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Among them, sophomore right‑hander Will Sanford emerged as a cornerstone of the rotation, finishing the season with a 9‑2 record and a 3.74 earned‑run average while throwing 84 ⅓ innings that limited opponents to a .186 batting average.
Reliever Tanner Bradley, who logged the most innings without a start, posted a team‑low 1.66 ERA and struck out 84 batters, earning first‑team All‑American honors from the NCBWA and a second‑team nod from Baseball America.
A Freshman Surge
Freshman outfielder Angel Laya made an immediate impact, shattering the single‑season home‑run record for Oregon freshmen with 14 round‑trippers while batting .296 and posting a .934 OPS, driving in 47 runs throughout the campaign.
First‑baseman and catcher Brayden Jaksa also tied the freshman home‑run record with 10, finished with a .318 average and a .934 OPS, and will continue his summer schedule with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League.
The collective accolades underscore the Ducks’ depth and hint at a promising future, as the coaching staff expects the quartet to anchor the lineup and rotation in the upcoming season.
