Sam LeJeune, a four-star defensive lineman from Poplarville, Mississippi, announced his commitment to Florida State University, choosing the Seminoles over California and Washington.
Recruitment background
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound rising senior trimmed his list to three programs before making his decision, a process that highlighted the intensity of the recruiting race in the Southeast.
Stat line and accolades
During his high school career he recorded 58 tackles, seven sacks, 22 tackles for loss, five blocked field goals and five pass breakups, earning a spot on the Under Armour All-America Game roster and helping Poplarville finish 8-5 and reach the fourth round of the playoffs.
National ranking
Ranked as the No. 5 player in Mississippi and the No. 11 defensive lineman nationally for the 2027 class, LeJeune’s decision underscores the depth of talent emerging from the state.
He also held offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU and Notre Dame, but the combination of academic fit, coaching staff and the chance to play alongside teammate Ty Keys sealed his choice.
Keys, a fellow Poplarville product, had previously committed to Miami, and LeJeune’s move brings another local star to a Power 4 conference program.
