Corey Laga, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive lineman from Lemont, Illinois, announced his commitment to Vanderbilt football on Tuesday, choosing the Commodores over suitors such as Oklahoma, Michigan State and his home-state Illinois.
A Strategic Addition to the Commodores' Line
Rivals ranks Laga as the No. 1,022 player in the 2027 class and the No. 84 offensive lineman nationally, while 247Sports places him at No. 451 overall and No. 45 among prospects of his position. His size and athleticism project him as a powerful run protector and an effective lead blocker on screen passes.
Laga joins a growing cadre of four-star talent in Vanderbilt's 2027 recruiting class, which already includes Omarii Sanders, Allen Evans, Grant Haviland, Jasper Ngokwere, Matt Williams and Luke Burger. The group helps the Commodores maintain a No. 27 spot in the Rivals rankings and a No. 29 position in the 247Sports composite.
The new signee is expected to reinforce Vanderbilt's offensive line, nicknamed "The Union," a unit that reached the semifinals for the Joe Moore Award during the 2025 season. Coaches believe Laga's blocking instincts and physicality will help the line compete more aggressively in the SEC.
Recruiting analysts note that adding a player of Laga's caliber not only improves the immediate depth chart but also signals Vanderbilt's expanding footprint in the Midwest recruiting market.
