A Commitment That Moves the Needle
Four-star offensive lineman Kaden Buchanan has pledged to Virginia Tech, becoming the program’s 14th commitment for the 2027 recruiting cycle and pushing the class to the nation’s 14th spot according to 247Sports.
Standing at 6‑foot‑4 and weighing 330 pounds, Buchanan anchors the interior line for Friendship Christian School in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he has already demonstrated the physicality and technique expected of a college‑ready lineman.
His recruitment turned into a head‑to‑head battle between the Hokies, Kentucky and North Carolina State, each program showcasing distinct advantages before Buchanan settled on Blacksburg.
Head coach James Franklin and offensive line coach Matt Moore emerged as the most persuasive voices, a fact that Buchanan underscored when he lauded Moore’s development‑focused coaching philosophy.
‘The relationship with the staff has been amazing and developmental,’ Buchanan said, emphasizing that the Hokies offered a clear pathway for growth rather than a mere projection to another position.
The commitment not only fills a need on the offensive line but also reinforces Virginia Tech’s upward trajectory, giving the program a tangible boost as it aims to build a dominant front line for the coming seasons.
