A Recruitment Story Rooted in the Heartland
Brayden Harris, a 6‑7, 285‑pound offensive tackle from Jackson High School in Missouri, has been a fixture in the national conversation for the 2027 class. Rivals and other major outlets have labeled him a four‑star prospect, placing him 15th among offensive tackles and fourth overall in his home state.
After fielding more than two dozen scholarship offers, Harris narrowed his choices to Kansas State, Arkansas and UCF. The decision was shaped by the persistent efforts of offensive line coach Mike Schmidt and inside wide receiver coach Josh Burfod, who guided the young athlete through a complex recruitment landscape.
Harris is celebrated for his versatility, excelling in both pass protection and run blocking. Analysts note his precise timing and aggressive approach in the trenches, traits that have drawn comparisons to former Kansas State standout Trey Zuhn III, who recently entered the NFL draft after a standout college career.
The commitment marks a significant addition for Kansas State’s recruiting class, reinforcing the program’s reputation for developing talent that can contribute early on the field. With the Wildcats’ coaching staff now securing a player of Harris’s caliber, the team looks to build on recent successes and compete more fiercely in the Big 12 conference.
