A Strategic Commitment for LSU
Trey Martin, a four-star running back from Winnsboro, Louisiana, announced his decision to join the LSU Tigers on Wednesday, choosing the SEC powerhouse over a handful of elite programs.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect had visited a string of SEC campuses, including Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee, before narrowing his list and ultimately committing to Baton Rouge.
Martin becomes the third running back to pledge to LSU’s 2027 recruiting class, a group that has surged to No. 9 in the national rankings and sits fourth among SEC schools.
Coach Lane Kiffin, who has been shaping the Tigers’ offensive scheme, praised Martin’s blend of speed and vision, noting that the addition bolsters the team’s depth at the position.
National rankings place Martin at No. 11 among running backs and No. 176 overall, underscoring the significance of his pledge for LSU’s future on the field.
The commitment also reflects a broader trend of Louisiana’s top talent staying in state, a development that could reshape recruiting dynamics across the region.
Rivals.com, a leading source for college sports news, highlighted the move as a pivotal moment for LSU’s class, which has climbed fourteen spots since Monday.
With the new pledge, LSU’s coaching staff looks to build on a promising foundation, aiming to translate early recruiting successes into on-field dominance in the coming seasons.
