The Fox Chapel baseball squad finished the regular season with a 12-9 overall record and a 4-6 mark within its section, showing enough talent to compete with some of the state's best. The team entered the WPIAL Class 5A playoffs with optimism, hoping to translate regular‑season momentum into a deep postseason run.
In the first round, the Foxes faced Penn-Trafford and were unable to break through, losing 4-1. The game was tightly contested early on, but the opposition's pitching staff managed to keep the Foxes' bats quiet after the opening inning.
A significant factor in the loss was the absence of senior pitcher Blake Krushinski, a West Virginia commit who had been the team's ace before a late‑season injury sidelined him. His absence forced the staff to rely on younger arms, including Drew Moyer, who made the start in the playoff game, and junior Tristan Blum, a Kent State recruit who contributed solid innings on the mound.
Key Performances and Future Building Blocks
Despite the setback, several players stood out. Tyler Golembiewski, a senior, finished the playoffs with a batting average near .340 and added a pair of timely hits. Junior Noah Hughes and sophomore catcher/infielder Elias George are expected to be core contributors next season, providing both stability behind the plate and versatility in the field. Coach Jim Hastings emphasized that the team must improve consistency at the plate and tighten up overall execution if they hope to contend in the coming year.
