Franklin Post 75 captured the Massachusetts American Legion State Senior baseball championship on Thursday night, edging Milford Post 59 by a 3‑2 score in a dramatic walk‑off hit‑by‑pitch.
The game was halted for about an hour and a half by rain, but once play resumed Franklin seized the momentum, with Gavin Heneghan delivering a double to right‑center in the final inning.
Key Performances
Starting pitcher Colin Mont earned tournament MVP honors, holding Milford in check for most of the contest before a defensive lapse in the seventh allowed the opposition to tie the game at 2‑2.
Franklin’s defense answered with a clutch double play turned by Jack Sullivan and a diving catch by Sean Kryzak that preserved the lead.
Milford intentionally walked two batters to load the bases, bringing up Pat Luizzi, who was praised by coach Tyler Pasquarosa for his mature approach at the plate.
Jackson Fournier’s first‑pitch clip to Luizzi produced the tournament‑winning run, sealing a 3‑2 victory.
Looking Ahead
With the state title in hand, Franklin Post 75 will travel to the New England regional, where they will face the best teams from the surrounding states. Coach Pasquarosa expressed confidence in the squad’s depth, noting the contributions of players such as Joey McGee, Gavin Metcalf, Matt Pedroli, Ben Maiorano, Aidan Clark, Zach Winer and others.
