Nebraska’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of Sam Orme, a 6‑foot‑9 forward who transferred from Belmont.
A Versatile Forward Joins the Husker Program
Coach Fred Hoiberg highlighted Orme’s size, work ethic and shooting ability as key reasons for the recruitment, noting that the player brings a proven track record of production in the Missouri Valley Conference.
During his most recent season Orme averaged 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 40 percent from three‑point range, earning All‑Missouri Valley Conference honors and a second‑team selection.
He contributed to Belmont’s 26‑6 record and helped the Bruins capture the conference’s regular‑season title, a performance that also placed him fifth in the league for both field‑goal and three‑point percentage.
Off the court Orme is known for his versatility, having recorded 21 games with double‑digit scoring, including two 20‑point outings and several double‑double performances.
His redshirt freshman year showed a different statistical line, with 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, a 50 percent field‑goal rate and 38 percent from beyond the arc, and he was recognized on the MVC All‑Freshman team.
The coaching staff believes the new roster piece will add depth and spacing, positioning the Huskers for a competitive season in the Big Ten.
