Lawrence Transit is rolling out a complimentary shuttle service this season that will take fans from downtown parking lots directly to KU football games, eliminating the need to navigate crowded streets on game day.
Convenient Travel Options for Jayhawks Fans
The new service utilizes Routes 4 and 3, which stop at key locations such as Seventh and Vermont streets and Ninth and New Hampshire streets, providing convenient access to the parking garages that offer free all‑day parking on their top levels. If Route 4 reaches capacity, passengers can fall back on Route 3, which also serves the same general area.
Both routes include a drop‑off point at Maine Street and Fambrough Drive, right by the stadium entrance, while Route 3 serves as a backup when Route 4 is full. The shuttle program is scheduled to run for the entire 2026 season, and all transit buses will remain fare‑free throughout that period.
For fans returning downtown after evening games, Lawrence Transit’s On Demand service is available at a $3 one‑way fare. Riders can schedule a ride in advance or request it on the spot, ensuring a reliable way to get back to the parking areas after the final whistle.
KU’s home football slate includes six matchups this year: September 4 against Long Island University, September 11 versus Missouri, October 3 against Middle Tennessee, October 24 facing Baylor, November 7 at the University of Central Florida, and November 21 against Brigham Young University.
Tickets and shuttle reservations can be made through the Lawrence Transit mobile app or via the website at lawrencetransit.org/on-demand, giving fans multiple ways to secure their travel plans.
By removing transportation barriers, the initiative aims to enhance the overall game‑day experience for Jayhawks supporters, making it easier for downtown residents and visitors alike to enjoy the excitement of KU football.
