Indiana's basketball squad opened its preseason with a decisive 98-64 victory over College Jean-de-Brébeuf on Saturday, showcasing depth and cohesion.
The Hoosiers featured six players who reached double-digit scoring, while all nine scholarship athletes logged at least one field goal, underscoring the team's breadth of talent.
Freshmen Make Their Mark
Among the standout performances were true freshmen Prince-Alexander Moody, Trevor Manhertz and Vaughn Karvala, each contributing in distinct ways.
Moody, a four-star guard from Bishop McNamara High School in Maryland, poured in 13 points, grabbed five steals and played with a swagger that drew an approving smirk from Coach Darian DeVries.
Manhertz added 10 points and knocked down a pair of three-pointers, reflecting the confidence the coaching staff has placed in the newcomers.
Coach DeVries praised the freshmen for their effort, composure and confidence, noting that their early contributions could shape the team's trajectory this season.
The win not only highlighted the individual promise of the newcomers but also reinforced the program's depth as it prepares for the upcoming schedule.
Looking Ahead
With the fresh talent now integrated, Indiana aims to translate its exhibition success into a competitive edge when the regular season begins.
