Friday Night Fever Showdown Returns to Omaha
The upcoming season of high school football in Omaha will be headlined by the 'Friday Night Fever Showdown' series, a ten‑game broadcast lineup that pits some of the city’s most storied programs against each other. The first contest, Elkhorn South versus Papillion La Vista South, is set for August 28 at 7 p.m.
Initial games will be carried by First Alert 6, with the next two weeks also airing on the same station before the remainder of the schedule shifts to Golden Spike Sports and Entertainment. From September 11 onward, viewers can watch the action for free over‑the‑air on channel 6.6 or via Cox Cable channel 127.
Gary Sharp will handle play‑by‑play commentary, while Clayton Collier and Mason Kern of First Alert 6 News will provide additional coverage and analysis for each matchup, ensuring a comprehensive broadcast experience.

The schedule includes classic rivalries such as Elkhorn South versus Papillion La Vista South, Millard South versus Elkhorn South, and Lincoln Southeast versus Omaha North, among others. Golden Spike Sports and Entertainment will also extend its programming to include Omaha Storm Chaser Baseball, Union Omaha Soccer, LOVB Volleyball, and a range of Nebraska and Iowa high school sports, creating a year‑round showcase of local athletics.
