Ignacio “Nacho” Aguado grew up in Watsonville, California, where he honed his soccer skills on the fields of Pajaro Valley High. A standout player who graduated in 2023 and earned all‑league honors, he caught the eye of scouts in Mexico and earned a spot with Atlético Hidalgo Futbol Club, a historic club based in Pachuca.
Overcoming Adversity
When the Covid‑19 pandemic struck, Aguado faced a cascade of financial setbacks. With limited resources in Pachuca — sometimes lacking electricity and running water — he launched a modest car‑detailing business to keep a roof over his head and support his family.
Despite the odds, his perseverance paid off. In his first season with Atlético Hidalgo he appeared in ten matches, starting four and coming off the bench in six, earning a place in the starting eleven and catching the attention of regional coaches.
Off the field, Aguado balanced his athletic ambitions with academics at Hartnell College, where he continued to compete at a high level while completing coursework. He also traveled to Mexico for tryouts with Irapuato and Alebrijes de Oaxaca, experiences that sharpened his resolve.

His journey has been bolstered by a network of local organizations. Sponsorship from the Aztecas Youth Soccer Academy, Central Coast FC, Eclipse Soccer Academy and Fuerza Santa Cruz has helped cover travel, equipment and training costs, while also providing mentorship.
