Frontenacs Ink Defenceman Shane Roche to Scholarship Deal

Ontario prospect joins Kingston's blue line after impressive draft and junior performances

The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club announced the addition of defenceman Shane Roche, a 6‑foot‑3, 174‑pound left‑shot prospect from Markham, Ontario, who joined the team on a OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

A promising addition to the Frontenacs' blue line

General manager Kory Cooper highlighted Roche’s size, skating ability and active stick, noting that the youngster brings a big‑bodied presence to the defensive corps.

Roche, selected 39th overall in the second round of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, previously logged 13 points in 31 games with the Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program and had been a regular on the 2026 OHL Cup roster.

The 18‑year‑old will wear number 83 next season and becomes the third member of the 2026 draft class to sign an OHL scholarship, a milestone that underscores the club’s growing pipeline of talent.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Roche said he is eager to contribute to the Frontenacs’ success and to develop under the organization’s development pathway.
