Fryeburg Academy clinched the Class B baseball state championship on Saturday, edging Cony High School 4-3 in a tightly contested final.
The Raiders fell behind early, surrendering two runs in the top of the first, but rallied with a three-run burst in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Brady Chappell’s two‑run homer that flipped the lead to 3‑2.
Dean’s Dual Threat
Oliver Dean was the workhorse on the mound, throwing a complete game that limited Cony to four hits and three runs, while also contributing a leadoff double and a run in the second.
Fryeburg’s offense continued to grind, with David Rosales going 2‑for‑3, adding a double and an RBI, and Noah Day chipping in a hit and a run. The team’s depth proved decisive as the game wore on.
The victory marks the first state title for the program since 1983, a milestone that has sparked celebration across the Standish community and beyond.
