Freshman Impact Set to Reshape Seminoles
Florida State University’s football program has unveiled a 2026 recruiting class that brings together 34 high school and JUCO prospects. While only one recruit earned a top‑100 national ranking, the group is generating considerable buzz for its depth and versatility.
Among the newcomers, wide receiver Devin Carter stands out as a potential early‑season catalyst. The son of former FSU running back Dexter Carter, Carter compiled 67 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns at Douglas County High School and was ranked No. 2 among ACC freshmen. His ability to play multiple receiver positions adds a dynamic layer to the Seminoles’ revamped offense.
Linebacker Izayia Williams brings a complementary spark to the defense. After recovering from an ACL injury, Williams returns with a pedigree that includes 125 tackles, four sacks and ten total touchdowns at Tavares High School. He was ranked No. 4 among ACC freshmen and is expected to contribute immediately.
The coaching staff has highlighted the competition for starting spots, particularly at wide receiver where Jasen Lopez is battling Jayvan Boggs for a role. Other freshmen such as Xavier Tiller, Jaemin Pinckney, Ashton Daniels, Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, Billy Tucker and Dexter Carter are also expected to make early impacts.
The Seminoles open the season on August 29 against New Mexico State, a game that could set the tone for a campaign aimed at reclaiming elite status in the ACC.
