Gail Mann, who has led the Nazareth women's soccer program since 1993, announced this week that she will retire at the conclusion of the current season.
Her decision is driven by the need to care for her mother, who is living with dementia, and to prioritize family responsibilities that have long supported her coaching career.
A Legacy Built on 378 Wins
Over three decades, Mann amassed 378 victories, positioning her 21st on the all‑time Division III coaching list, and she guided the team to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, underscoring the program’s sustained excellence.
The achievements reflect not only her strategic insight but also the culture of commitment and teamwork she instilled across generations of players.
Current seniors Caitlyn Smithers, Shannon Sgombick and Kiyomi Mastro voiced deep appreciation for Mann’s mentorship, pledging to give their best effort on the field as a tribute to her enduring influence.
Mann stressed that she does not want her upcoming departure to alter the team’s approach, urging the players to maintain the intensity and focus that have defined their season.
