Gamecocks Player Arrested in Vehicle Burglary Scheme

Sam Williams-Dixon faces multiple charges after alleged thefts in Columbia

A University of South Carolina football player was taken into custody this week after investigators say he and his brother were linked to a string of vehicle break‑ins across Columbia between June 7 and June 12.

The alleged thefts involved the loss of high‑value items, including a $6,000 diamond‑studded chain, a $2,000 Gucci watch and a pair of shoes valued at $1,400.

According to police, surveillance footage and recovered property helped build a case that led to multiple larceny and conspiracy charges against the brothers.

Charges and Release

Williams‑Dixon was charged with several counts of larceny and conspiracy and was released on a $150,000 bond. He had transferred to South Carolina in January after playing at Ohio State, where he began his college career.

The university responded by placing him on an indefinite suspension, removing him from the team pending further review.

Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season

The Gamecocks are scheduled to open the 2026 season at home against Kent State on September 5 at Williams‑Brice Stadium in Columbia, a venue that has been the backdrop for many of the program’s most memorable moments.
