Gamecocks’ Ticket Boom Signals Fan Resurgence

Despite recent on‑field setbacks, the University of South Carolina’s season ticket sales have surged, reflecting a coaching turnaround and financial recovery.

South Carolina announced that every one of the 47,149 season tickets for the 2026 football season has been claimed, a milestone that comes even as the team has stumbled in recent years.

Coaching Change Sparks Momentum

The figure represents a modest dip from the 47,500 tickets sold in 2025, reflecting a reduction in lower‑level seats at Williams‑Brice Stadium, but it marks a dramatic reversal from the 38,483 tickets sold in 2021 during the COVID‑19‑impacted season.

The surge follows a period of decline that began under former coach Will Muschamp, when ticket revenue fell to a low of $3.85 million in 2020. Since then, Coach Shane Beamer’s resurgence — highlighted by a 9‑4 record in 2024 — has added more than 4,000 tickets after the 2022 season and nearly 3,500 after the 2024 campaign.

Revenue from tickets has rebounded accordingly, climbing to $21.58 million in 2024, a stark contrast to the pandemic‑era trough. The financial recovery mirrors a broader revival in fan enthusiasm for the Gamecocks.

To meet evolving preferences, the athletics department has introduced new options such as the Gamecock Go Pass and single‑game tickets sold through Costco, giving supporters more flexibility in how they engage with the team.
