Gannon Women's Basketball Team Receives National Academic Honor
The Gannon women's basketball program has been named to the WBCA 2025‑26 Division II Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, a distinction that celebrates both athletic competition and classroom achievement.
The team posted a collective grade‑point average of 3.755, placing it 16th among all NCAA Division II programs and meeting the minimum 3.0 GPA requirement for nomination.
To earn the honor, a program must be nominated by a WBCA‑member head coach and maintain a combined GPA of at least 3.0 across its roster, a standard the team met with distinction.
Head coach Cleve Wright said he is proud of the players and staff for their dedication to scholarship, noting that the recognition reflects the program’s culture of excellence.
WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew praised the team’s commitment to success on the court and in the classroom, emphasizing that academic achievement is a cornerstone of the association’s mission.
Gannon and East Stroudsburg are the only Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference programs to appear on the 2025‑26 honor roll, underscoring the conference’s growing academic reputation.
Now in its 31st year, the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls continue to highlight the association’s long‑standing focus on integrating athletics with academic rigor.
