Fundraiser Clinics Kick Off This Fall
The Garden City varsity field hockey program is turning its off‑season into an opportunity to give back, announcing a series of instructional clinics aimed at girls in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Six Sundays — September 13, 20, 27 and October 4, 11, 18 — will see the team take over the high school’s turf field, with each session running from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A $70 fee per participant covers instruction, field time and the materials needed to run the program, and can be paid via Venmo (@GCFieldHockey26) or by check payable to Garden City Field Hockey.
Registration requires families to email or mail personal details — name, grade, address, email, a parent’s cell phone number and any medical concerns — to Laura Kashimer at 6 Fenimore Avenue, Garden City.
Each player must arrive equipped with a field hockey stick, mouth guard, protective eyewear and shin guards to ensure safety on the turf.
All proceeds from the clinics are earmarked for equipment upgrades and travel expenses for the varsity squad, making the effort a direct fundraiser for the team.
Laura Kashimer, the team’s coordinator, notes that the clinics also aim to spark early interest in the sport and strengthen community ties around youth athletics.
