Thaden School announced this week that Gary Simmons will lead its boys basketball program starting next season, filling the vacancy left by Greg White. White’s departure was confirmed after he accepted a similar role at Providence Academy, a move that has been welcomed by the school’s leadership.
Simmons arrives after a distinguished stint as head coach at El Dorado, where he worked closely with Thaden’s athletic director Scott Passmore. Their partnership produced memorable moments, including a nationally televised contest at Tiger Arena a decade ago that drew significant regional attention.
Passmore, now serving as Thaden’s athletic director, highlighted Simmons’s coaching philosophy and his ability to develop talent. "Gary brings a deep understanding of the game and a commitment to excellence that aligns perfectly with Thaden’s ambitions," Passmore said in a statement.
