The Florida Gators have surged in the latest USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll, climbing to the No. 14 spot after a dominant showing in the SEC Baseball Tournament.
Their momentum was built on two convincing victories: an 8‑3 win over Vanderbilt in the second round and a 13‑3 triumph against Alabama in the semifinals, showcasing both power hitting and solid pitching.
Starting May 29, the Gators will host the Gainesville Regional, opening play against the Rider Broncos, and will look to translate their tournament confidence into a deep postseason run on home soil.
While the Georgia Bulldogs remain the SEC’s highest‑ranked team at No. 3, other conference powerhouses such as Texas, Auburn, and Texas A&M also appear in the top ten, with a host of additional SEC programs scattered throughout the top 25.
Coach Kevin O'Sullivan, now in his 15th season at the helm, praised the team’s resilience and emphasized the importance of maintaining focus as the regional approaches.
With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, the Gators aim to extend their season well beyond the regional stage, potentially setting up future matchups against the nation’s elite.
