Early lessons from the scrimmage
The practice‑style game featured 127 total snaps, with the first, second and third units each receiving 50, 43 and 34 plays respectively, giving coaches a broad canvas to assess depth.
Coach Jon Sumrall used the session to call out early‑season growing pains, citing two false starts at wide receiver and a series of defensive breakdowns that produced interceptions.
On offense, Georgia Tech transfer Aaron Philo took the majority of first‑team snaps and responded with a deep strike to Eric Singleton Jr., followed by a touchdown pass to Bailey Stockton after recovering from an earlier interception.
