Return to the Ice
Gavin Best, a 24‑year‑old forward, has officially re‑signed with the Wichita Thunder for the 2026‑27 ECHL season, marking his second stint with the franchise.
Best brings a blend of college experience and leadership after a standout senior year at Ferris State University, where he captained the team and posted a career‑best 26 points.
Across his collegiate career he accumulated 45 points in 85 games, a tally that includes 22 goals and 23 assists, while his junior season with the Minnesota Magicians saw him record 54 points in 59 appearances and serve as an alternate captain.
The Thunder, an ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, will look to Best to bolster their offensive depth and provide veteran presence as they chase a playoff berth.
Fans can expect the forward to bring the same work ethic and playmaking ability that earned him recognition at both Michigan State and Ferris State, as he aims to translate his collegiate success into professional production.
