Gavin Grant Joins Aggie Staff
NM State Baseball Head Coach Jake Angier announced the addition of Gavin Grant as assistant coach on Wednesday.
Grant, who most recently served as the director of camps for the Oregon Ducks, will focus on coaching the infield, working with hitters and supporting the program’s recruiting efforts.
A Proven Track Record
During his tenure at Oregon, Grant oversaw camp operations, coordinated on‑campus recruiting and contributed to the team’s success in the 2026 Austin Super Regional, a milestone that included six consecutive regional appearances for the Ducks.
His involvement in player development produced nine drafted hitters, among them three infielders selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, and helped shape standout athletes such as Mason Nevill, Ryan Cooney, Maddox Molony and Angel Laya.
Playing Legacy
Grant’s playing career at Oregon spanned 2020 to 2023, during which he started 185 games at second base and shortstop, compiling a .266 batting average with 16 home runs and 77 RBIs.
A graduate with a bachelor’s degree in general social science and a master’s in public administration, Grant also earned First Team West Region honors at Tacoma Community College before transferring to Oregon.
