Gavin Lowe, a 5‑foot‑11 guard who earned Utah’s player‑of‑the‑year honors twice, announced his commitment to Weber State men’s basketball on Tuesday, joining a program that has been quietly building momentum in the Big Sky Conference.
At Olympus High in Salt Lake City, Lowe led the Titans to three straight state championships, compiling a 97‑11 record and averaging 25.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.5 steals per game as a senior.
A Recruit With a Winning Pedigree
Coach Kaleb Canales, who has been courting Lowe throughout a complex recruiting cycle, said the guard’s relentless competitiveness and aversion to losing made him an ideal fit for the Wildcats’ culture.
Lowe, who plans to pursue a degree in business administration, grew up in the Ogden Valley and spent time in Huntsville, giving him a familiarity with northern Utah that he says will help him hit the ground running.
His senior season also featured 164 three‑point attempts at a 38 % clip, underscoring a shooting skill set that should translate well to the collegiate game. He becomes the fourth Utah native on Weber’s 2026‑27 roster and the seventh freshman slated for the 2025‑26 class.
