Oregon State University has confirmed the signing of Genesia Mayele, a 6‑foot‑1 freshman forward, to its 2026‑27 women's basketball roster, marking a significant addition as the program prepares for its return to the Pac‑12 conference.
A Fresh Face with Proven International Experience
Mayele arrives after two seasons in France's LF2 league, first with Le Harve and then with Pays Voironnais Basket Club. In her most recent stint with PVBC she averaged 5.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.8 steals over 18 games, shooting 41.8% from the field and pulling down 46 offensive rebounds out of 110 total.
Her breakout performance came early in the season when she recorded a 17‑point, 13‑rebound double‑double against Bihorel, and she later posted a season‑high 18 points against Mandeville. Across those appearances she maintained a 40% field‑goal percentage and a 31.2% three‑point clip, underscoring a reliable scoring threat.
Head coach Scott Rueck praised Mayele's all‑around skill set, describing her as a dynamic, versatile guard who excels defensively and on the boards. "She brings a combination of size, agility and basketball IQ that will complement our existing talent and elevate the team's competitiveness," Rueck said in the announcement.
