Geno Auriemma, the longtime head coach of the UConn women’s basketball program, has revealed that he is working on a new podcast that will go beyond the hardwood.
The series will spotlight individuals who have excelled in a variety of disciplines, from athletics to business, culture and beyond, reflecting Auriemma’s belief that excellence is a universal language.
A familiar voice returns to the mic
This is not the first time Auriemma has ventured into audio storytelling; from 2017 to 2019 he hosted Holding Court with Geno Auriemma, a show that welcomed guests such as Tiger Woods and the late Kobe Bryant.
In the twelve episodes already recorded for the upcoming podcast, the coach promises intimate conversations that will feature both familiar faces and fresh perspectives, though a concrete release date has yet to be announced.
Former UConn stars Azzi Fudd and Sue Bird have also entered the podcasting arena, joining a growing cohort of athletes who are using the medium to share their own narratives and insights.
The initiative underscores a broader shift in sports media, where coaches and players alike are leveraging digital platforms to extend their reach and deepen engagement with fans.
While the podcast’s launch remains tentative, Auriemma’s involvement signals a continued commitment to storytelling that bridges competition and community, a hallmark of his distinguished career.
