Athens to Host Crucial Super Regional
The NCAA baseball Super Regional will take place at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia, from June 6 through June 8, featuring a best‑of‑three series between the Georgia Bulldogs and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Georgia enters the series as the No. 3 seed with a 3‑0 regional record, while Mississippi State holds the No. 14 seed and also finished 3‑0 in its regional. Both teams earned their spots by winning three straight games, setting the stage for a high‑stakes matchup.
The Bulldogs swept a three‑game series in Starkville earlier this April and added a victory in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals, giving them recent momentum heading into the Super Regional.
Georgia coach Wes Johnson praised Mississippi State’s depth, noting that the SEC is one of the most competitive conferences in the nation. “They have a deep league, and it shows in their performance,” Johnson said, highlighting the challenge his team faces.
The winner of the Athens series will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, a goal that has eluded Georgia since 2008. Mississippi State, meanwhile, is chasing its first CWS appearance since capturing the national title in 2021.
